Lessons in Live is the educational platform by me, dj, producer, live performer and Ableton Certified trainer Camiel Daamen. It’s a school to learn how to produce modern electronic music. With 23+ years of experience in the music field I have a lot of information to share with my students.

I started the Lessons in Live platform back in 2018 after having toured as a live-act and DJ for about 15 years. I started doing artist masterclasses for Ableton, SAE Amsterdam, and Amsterdam Dance Event a few years prior to that. It seemed something I really enjoyed and it made me fall in love with teaching Ableton and Music Production. After starting the Lessons in Live school, I got certified in 2019 in Berlin. From there on I took the classes online during the pandemic and now I only teach online.

I teach beginners- and intermediate courses as well as private lessons and I also do artist mentoring during their career in electronic music.

The courses are 10 weeks for the beginners and 5 weeks for the intermediate. Next to that I do private lessons with students as well. They can work at their own pace and I always do an intake with my students to see how I can best help them. Then, based on their level we plan the sessions.

After each session the students get access to the recording of the class so they can study the information in their own time after the class as well.

I put all my students in a big whatsapp group so they become part of a big community of students which is helping them evolve more rapidly and they stay inspired due to the activity in the group.

I like to be the personal sensei for my students and I am often in contact with many of them, tracking how their musical journey is going. Also after they have finished one of my courses. The personal touch is key for me and that is also the reason I like the teaching so much. It gives me great pleasure to see students succeed in reaching their dreams.
