World of Sound: Explore Live 11’s Inspired by Nature Devices
Electronic music always rests on a tension between the precision of machines and the irregularities of the natural world. Artists, engineers and product designers have often strived to add groove, nuance and mystery to sequencing and synthesis in a bid to sound more ‘natural’. But what if nature’s influence on electronic music went further than subtle imperfections?
As part of the expansive range of new features included in Live 11, there’s a suite of Max for Live devices called Inspired by Nature. Designed in collaboration with Dillon Bastan, they draw on natural and physical phenomena such as gravity, magnetism, friction and fractals to manipulate and move your music in exciting new ways. To get you started using these new devices, ELPHNT has put together an introductory tutorial that shows you some of their key features, from delicately balanced movement to wildly unpredictable patterns and processes.
