Turntables Transformed: Converting Disc Images to Sound

The image of a turntable is iconic: a tone arm reads music from a spinning disc. But what if that disc is cut from a tree, or features geometric patterns rather than a vinyl groove? Two inspiring pieces use Ableton Live, along with other software, to translate these nontraditional discs into sound.
