Loop 2020 First Artist Names Revealed

We are excited to reveal the first artists joining us for Loop 2020, our three-day summit for music makers in Berlin, Germany. They are creators from all over the globe, sharing unique approaches to their creative practice.

Sylvia Massy is a US-based engineer and producer with over 30 years of studio experience working with acts including Johnny Cash, REM, and Tool. She’ll be sharing her insights and processes for producing successful records using experimental engineering methods and equipment. Mexican brother and sister duo Sotomayor will show you the art of sampling, and how it culminates in their Cumbia meets Afrobeat sound. They’ll also be giving a full band performance of their perfect blend of live instrumentation and digitally produced beats.

UK-based quartet Ex-Easter Island Head will host a Music Improv Session based around their instruments-as-percussion approach to performance, along with a Studio Session showing some of the techniques they use to create unique sounds through the art of repetition.

Loop 2020 will also feature pioneering dance music producer Deena Abdelwahed, along with Antenes and Eric Pitra, both experimental instrument builders based in New York. Virtuoso percussionist Dame Evelyn Glennie will be sharing insights into her intensely physical practise. Singer and performer Colin Self will be giving a glimpse into his multi-disciplinary musical happenings, and improvising duo Joel Holmes and Cody Currie will be showing us how live instrumentation can be used to shake up the house music scene.

The Loop summit is a three-day exploration of music creation through talks, performances and hands-on Workshops across several venues in Berlin. Intimate Studio Sessions and performative presentations make Loop a unique experience, and there is still time to register for a pass to the summit.

Further guests and program information for the event will be released in the coming weeks. Check out the latest on the program and find out more about Loop 2020.
