Your workaround for this bug appreciated:

There's a simple synth line playing and looping in the arrange window.

You automate a parameter, and the loop keeps playing..nice.

Now you want to tweak some pitch bend in there too,

so as the loop is repeating, you hit record and move the pitch wheel.

All of your other automated parameters were just erased in the process.

I'm telling you, man, beyond ANY other issue with Ableton Live, I know for sure

there has to be some kind of workaround for this problem, because I know

nobody would be using Live unless there were a workaround for it.

Do you need to create a separate midi track just to record the pitch bend?

I mean even if you are Overdubbing and want to play in new notes, or whatever

else you want to do with that track,  wo matter what you do,

the automation already on that track is going to

be erased when you hit record.

    Hi there,

If a track in Live is armed, all automation lanes will be overwritten once you hit Global Record and Play. In order to avoid this, you need to un-arm the track - the automation lanes will remain intact then, while automation for the parameter you are currently tweaking will still be recorded.

Still though...  that is still "volatile", it's not secure, even knowing that, when using the app in a natural flow, it is very counter-intuitive to work with "if I want to add notes to this track, my envelopes will disappear?  it's not a good thing unfortunately.
