Why is my rewire multicore support grey when rewiring with Reason 7?

My multicore support for rewire in Ableton says its on but its grey. And when rewiring Reason my cpu meter in Ableton seems awfully high.Im running on a 2013 macbook pro retina with the second to highest specs for cpu and 8gb of ram. When I say high I mean if I run 2 instruments from reason and one from massive,I see a cpu spike up to like 30 or 40 percent. This seem a little high which is why I'm posting this question.

I used to have to disable Multi-Processor support in Nuendo whenever I used Reason.  I think ReWire struggles with multi processors.

Also, are you using any third party Rack Extensions in Reason?  Some of them are quite power hungry, and the "sandbox" type of environment they run in doesn't allow the developers to write optimized machine code for Rack Extensions.  (Not sure if the same restriction is on the factory instrument set)
