Why does Ableton Live 8 not recognize the Voxengo Span as Plug-in VST?

 Hi there,

Just recently stumbled across the Voxengo SPAN which seems to come in pretty handy.

I downloaded the ZIP file from the producer's website and unzipped everything according to the instruction file - but still, Ableton does not recognize the .dll file and thus does not show the VST in the browser where my other VSTs are shown.

Also tried to re-assign the VST folder and to re-scan – no success.

Can anyone help?

Just figured this one out: You need to create a 'Voxengo' folder in your VST directory. Put the plugs in there and rescan.

    From the install notes:

For VST plug-ins on Windows platform:

You should unpack ZIP file you have downloaded into the
VstPlugins folder - the one which is connected with the audio
application you are using and where this application expects
VST plug-ins to reside (it is also suggested to create the
    'Voxengo' or 'Voxengo64' for 64-bit plug-ins sub-folder there,
and unpack the archive there instead of the main VstPlugins
folder).  After this has been done you will need to order your
audio application to rescan plug-ins, or if that option is
unavailable you will need to re-start this application.

For VST/AudioUnit plug-ins on Mac OS X platform:

You should mount the DMG archive (which you already did since
you are reading this file) and, depending on the plug-in format,
copy the 'component' or 'vst' package from it into the
corresponding plug-in folder located in the
'/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/' folder on the harddisk.  After this
has been done you will need to order your audio application to
rescan plug-ins, or if that option is unavailable you will need
    to re-start this application.

    Hi,

Im having exactly the same issue as Jay, im running a 64bit win7 machine. I have followed the instruction by placing the plugin in its own folder in my VST folder and re-scanned. No success.

    Any further help.

    Cheers

Response from Nick @ Ableton today. Not checked it but he said to use the 32bit version of Voxengo SPAN as ableton is 32bit. So if your running a 64bit machine match the plugin to the software not the machine.

    Makes sense really, der!

I had the same issue.  These two steps resolved it:  1-As mentioned above, when you open your Voxengo Span download, select 32-bit (not 64-bit).  2-Move the SPAN.DLL file out of the Voxengo folder right into your VST Plugins folder.  Live will recognize it then.

    Hey Jay,

I am using SPAN in Live 8 (WIN/PC). It is running. So, I think, it´s not Live´s problem. Got the last Version of SPAN (2.4.1)?  Did you download right SPAN-Version (32/64 bit)? Sure, SPAN is in the right VST-Folder? Using last Live-version? Sorry for that I have no idea...
