What are the most VSTi instances that you have loaded in a project and how do you manage them?

My current project has multiple instances of Serum, Sylenth, FM8, Massive, Reaktor, Omnisphere 2, Zebra 2, and Dune 2 which comprise the total sounds I am using for a project.

What do you guys do to manage something of this size? Is it normal to have so many different soft synth VSTi's in a project? I usually end up with about 50-60 tracks after consolidating and right before mixing. My CPU can get up to 65% upon mastering but usually it dances around 45% during the mix process.

Any management tips other than Duplicating then Freezing and Flattening tracks? Are there times where Freezing just doesn't solve the problem other than the typical side-chain limitation.
