Using external audio editor

I may be being stupid here but since I upgraded to Windows 10 and Live 9, I've been struggling to get Live to play nicely with my favourite external audio editors.

I'm using the Asio4All wrapper, but when I fire up Audacity, which I know doesn't work with ASIO it seems unable to access the normal MME drivers and throws an error.

I tried a couple of other free audio editors which do have support for ASIO and they recognised Asio4All fine, but when playback starts nothing comes out of the speakers. If I shut down Live and load the sample directly from the User Library, it plays fine.

It's a real pain, because my usual workflow tends to involve moving between Live and an external audio editor.

Am I missing something obvious here?

Thanks in advance
