Still a newby to Live, curious what my best option is for the audio from section of Live for audio clips.

I have a Macbook Pro with OS 10.9 with no audio amenities to speak of, except Live. Earlier today it took me a good 2 hours to figure out that the reason why Live wasn't allowing me to Arm Session Recording on audio clips was because I had audio to set to Ext in. So I subsequently changed audio from to Master, at which point it allowed me to arm session recording. Here are my questions.

1. Is Master the best choice for someone who is only using Live, no other audio software and or hardware? Or should I maybe choose one of the other options like Resampling?

2. Once I know what the best option is for audio from, is there a way for me to configure that so it automatically chooses that option, instead of me having to change each audio clip I open individually?

Thank you in advance.

The question you have to ask is: what do you want to achieve with this?
It is not a matter of choosing one setting for everything. It fully depends on what you want Live to do.

F.i.: want to record an external instrument or external input: choose ext in.
Want to record the output from another track? Use that track as input.
Want to record the master output? Choose master as input.
Or go with the resampling option to record every track/sound that is currently playing.

So it is not a matter of what is best, but more a question of what it is you want to do.

If you have everything set up the way you want, you could save the set as a default set, so every time you open a new set, it will be configureren like this. But personally i would not do that, because it would mean that you have to work in the exact same way/setup every time.
