Sound Mixing...Please Help

So I've been tinkering around with Ableton for a little bit now. Getting the feel for it and what not. I finally got the hang of creating good guitar tones, and bought a super crisp sounding drum tone plug-in (EZDrummer2). Been fooling around with the drum tones on their own, and they sound fantastic for the music I am trying to record with my band. The only issue I've found now, is that when I add the drums to a track that has guitars already recorded...The sound gets all jumbled up and the guitars end up sounding weaker where the drums are, and where there are no drums the guitars go back to being normal volume.
I've been messing with the mix of the drum kit itself, and have made slight improvements. But was wondering if there is something I am doing wrong, or something I can do to fix this issue?

Thanks in advance for any help! :)

Sounds like a "normal" case of bad mixing; Drums and guitars are occupying the same mix-space at some point.

Solutions; one option you already mentioned; EQ-ing; make space for the guitars without completely messing up the drums.

Another option would be the use of compression, or even sidechain compression.
