Soloing tracks with Sends: mysteriously not working

Hey guys,

When I'm working on a tune, soloing a track will usually also solo any Returns associated with that track.

For example, I usually use a reverb on Return A for my drums, with each drum track (kick, snare, hats etc) sending a different amount over Send A. Soloing any individual track will usually play both the track and the Returns it's sending to.

On my current project this isn't happening. Soloing a track does *not* get me the Returns for that track.

Soloing a Return by itself works as expected. However, soloing both:

  1. A track that sends to Return A, and
  2. Return A

Plays *all* tracks that send to Return A, which is useless.

Does anyone know what's going on here? This is a huge problem and I can't work out what has changed.

Go to your preferences and tick the box that says "solo in place".
After that, every track that you solo will also let you hear the corresponding send channels.

Solo in Place is easily unchecked by right-clicking the Solo button on a track. Activating it will restore the default functionality :)

I just had the same problem. Couldn't figure it out, but it might be related to upgrading my project from v8 to v9. I just created a new project in v9 and copied the tracks over and it works fine now
