Saving disabled even though I am authorised.

My friend and I want to collab on a tune. He has sent me files from Ableton 9 suite. When i open them on ableton 9 standard, it says saving and exporting are disabled. I am an authorised user. Is there any way of saving my parts that don't involve me buying the suite version?

I think that only happens when your friend is using devices or fx that are not part of Standard.

Did you try the same thing after those devices were removed or when those tracks are rendered to audio?

Because Suite and Standard use the same project types; the only difference is that some stuff only works in Suite. Remove that, and it should work fine.

As an alternative, you could sign up for a 30 day Suite trial, just click on "Try Live for free" in the top right corner of this page. This will allow you for 30 days to open and save these sets in a way, that allows you to open them in Standard afterwards.
