Routing midi channels to instruments / racks to aux

I'm an arranger using Finale. In Finale I set up an score with saxophones, trumpets, trombones, bass en drums. From Finale I'm export an midi file to Live9.

In Live I've made an template wit an Instrument Rack with Bass and Drums and an Instrument Rack with to multi instruments (Garritan). All the outputs sends back to an audio track.

The midi file is import to seperate midi channels and 'Midi to' is set to the instruments.

When I will solo an instruments it do'nt work. There is no sound. What can be the problem?

I can send an screenshot.

Not sure, but I think this is the problem:

since you are using midi notes to trigger a midi instrument, it consists of 2 parts:

the midi notes, and the audio that comes out of the instruments that receive the midi notes.

When you solo the instrument output, the mii track tht triggers these instruments is muted, so there will be no sound.

To fix this, you can try several things:

    1) put the midi notes in the instrument track: that means both midi and audio info are in one and the same channel: so when you solo it, you will hear the sound.

    2) group all these tracks: midi and audio in one group: solo the group to hear it all.

But the way you describe this, I would say: simply copy the midi patterns to every single instrument rack instead of sending it to trigger several instrument (racks) at once.

Hope this helps. If not: a screenshot would be useful :-)

Hi, Thank for your answer. My problem here: where can I add an screenshot?

I think you're right. With 'solo' turn it from a midi track or aux channel is off something else.

The reason I do it is so that I have routing. 4 saxophones, 3 trumpets, 3 trombones, horn, clarinet, baritone, bass and drums Every time I import a midi file I open the template in which such instruments and I add new tracks to midi. In midi in these tracks I choose the instrument.
