Record samples directly into MPC Essentials VST thru Ableton Live 9

There doesn't seem to be a ton of information on this that I could find through Google searches so I thought I'd ask here.

I have MPC Essentials, Ableton Live installed and I'm using a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 USB Audio Interface. I have my turntable setup coming thru the "In"s on my audio interface that I'm looking to record from.

Ableton recognizes the interface fine and MPC Essentials loads fine as a VST from within Ableton. The problem is that when I try to record directly into the MPC Essentials VST there's no signal coming thru Ableton into MPC Essentials. The signal comes thru just fine in an Audio Track in Ableton and when I load MPC Essentials by itself, but not when I'm running it thru Ableton.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

I also tried pulling the audio coming from the audio interface into an Ableton Audio track and sending that signal via "Audio To" to the MIDI track that has the MPC Essentials VST on it. When I open the MPC Essentials VST, still no audio signal coming into it.
