Record button automatically turns off

Recently I'm having a problem with one project in specific. When I try to press the record button (for example midi track 2) the record button automatically jumps off again. Basically I can't arm a midi or audio-track to record.

Any idea what the problem might be? I've tried restarting my mac and checked all of my Ableton settings. Input and output settings of my interface are fine.

No external midi controllers are connected to my mac, so they can't cause the problem.

Please double check that an available input source is chosen for those tracks, as otherwise arming them will not be possible.

Click on the "I-O" button on the right side of the master track, and make sure that on on the track you intend to record on "audio from" or "MIDI from" is specified with an available source.

maybe settings of the interface are "momentary" - it turns off every time after you unpress button. Change to "toogle". What controller is that exactly?
