Re recording a mix down via a mastering processor

Hi all

I've been pondering this for a good while and simply cannot get it to work.

I have Ableton Suite 8 hooked up to a Focusrite Liquid Saffire 56. A Behringer Ultracurve Pro is also connected to the Focusrite - sound leaves via outputs 3/4, is processed by the Behringer and re-connected to the Focusrite via inputs 3/4 (same numbers to  keep it simple).

Here's what I want to do: drop one of my rendered-down stereo mix (wav) files into track 1, send it to the outputs 3/4, have it come back from the Behringer to a separate track so that I can re-record it as a mastered track. I would then solo the new track before rendering that to the final, mastered wav.

No matter what I try, I cannot get this to work - I know I perhaps should be using the External Effect plug in but cannot figure this either.

Would really appreciate it if someone could talk me through this.

Thanks in advance.

    Hey Roy,

It should work the way you do it right now. Use output 3/4 on track 1, those go to the Ultracurve. The outputs on the ultracurve go to input 3/4. Create another track in live and set it's input to 3/4. Next set it to "in" mode and arm it by clicking the record button in the track. The only thing left is to hit record in live and press play.

If this doesn't work you could try going thru the focusrite mixer application, maybe something is wrong there...
