Randomise clip triggering

Hi guys

I have a midi signal coming in on C3 Ch1. This is then mapped to trigger a clip on track 1. Is there a way that I can randomise which clip is played on track 1 when the midi message comes in? Rather than it always trigger the first slot is there anything I can do in launch options etc. to make it then trigger a different slot instead of the first one? AND is there a way I can randomise which slot is triggered every time a C3 message comes in?

Interesting. This is kind of a cool problem. I think the best way to solve this would be to do the following:

create a midi track next to track 1 that loops through your midiyoke or IAC driver.

create a midi clip with a single note: I would choose C-2

Map your cc3 to the clip you just created.

In that track, you can use the random midi effect and set it on 100% with the proper scaling amounts. (Though I do not use this effect very often, I would say 24 for the choices knob and 1 for the scales knob since this will be easy to map)

Now you can map up to 48 clips to this track.

Unfortunately, if you set the scale up to 2 or more, the midi effect rack will start to skip notes. However, if you need more than this, I know of a way to access all 128 notes randomly, however it would take a bit more programming and explanation than I am willing to put up here. So if you need more just say so and we can set something up.

If you would like a detailed explanation or help setting this up or if anything is confusing please do not hesitate to ask.
