Push 2 Not Displaying Waveforms from Simpler

Hello,

Here are my hardware specs:

Win 7 x64

Dell Optiplex 790

Mackie Onyx Blackjack interface

Push 2

Pretty simple problem, just as the title indicates. When I load a sample into Simpler (wav, aif, rex2 - I've tried multiple types), and select that particular Simpler device, my Push's display says "Press 'Browse' to load a Sample". Otherwise the push seems to be completely aware of the Sample loaded into Simpler. I can nudge slices, change sensitivity, modes, etc. and all correspond to what's happening in Live. I just can't get the Push to show the sample itself.

Any help would be appreciated.

New EDIT: Those of you who are also having this problem, have you noticed that your meters in Mix Mode are also working incorrectly? I'm not getting any peak/RMS feedback in mix mode - just noticed that today.

    Gotit.

Had to uninstall and reinstall to get it working. All is fine now.

One suggestion, copy your Prefences Folder
    Win7
    C:\Users\Name\AppData\Roaming\Ableton\Live 9.5\Preferences

Dear Razz. Please let me know if you have any solutions, as I am experiencing the same issue. I also noticed that Push 2 is not always loading up properly. Sometimes its loads up, but other times it does not (no display even after pressing browse).

    Thanks in advance.

    Hey Razz,

I just tried working with the Push 2.

I didn't do much changing, but the waveform display is showing today. Perhaps, letting the computer rest overnight had some kind of effect. However, I did restart the computer and Push 2 several times yesterday when I was troubleshooting with no success. Today is another story.

How is your Push experience going today?

Same issue here, Push 2 is not showing waveforms from simpler & in mix mode not displaying the meters. ( Win 7 x64 / i7-4790K / Focusrite Saffire 6 USB 96Khz/24Bit Version / 16GB Ram)

Tried all your tipps & uninstall/reinstall … did not help. Thank you for your help!

I wonder if I used a Registry Cleaner...quite honestly I've forgotten what steps I took but i may have done this:

I didn't mention it but I also 'disabled' all extra controllers (Push 1, Maschine, Project Mix I/O) from the MIDI section in Preferences by switching them to 'None'.
Then Quit Live, Uninstalled Live 9.5, Restarted my PC, Ran Registry Cleaner, Restarted computer, did the reinstall of 9.5, Turned on Push 2, Opened Live and viola.
    Maybe that'll help??

    I use this free one:

Finally had the time to install Live 9.5 on my Dell Inspiron 15 7000 (from 2014) laptop (Win 8.1 x64). My Push 2 that dont show waveforms & meters on my desktop (Win 7 x64) works fine with the Dell laptop, showing the waveforms in simpler & the meters in mix mode! Maybe hardware / usb-controller related?

    Win 10 x64 / i7-4790K / Focusrite Scarlett 18i6 / 8GB Ram)

Tried all your tips & uninstall/reinstall … did not help.

I had this issue on a mac. Power cycling (including unplugging USB too) didn't fix it. Rebooting Live did.

Found a solution for me, i upgraded from Win 7 x64 to Win 10 x64, didn't help. But then i formated my system & made a clean install of Win 10 x64 - works perfect now, Push 2 is showing all the waveforms & in the mix mode showing the meters! (maybe just a clean (re-) install of Win 7 x64 would have worked, too)

After experimenting arround I found that the source of the bug is the library. I solved  it on 2 different Win 7 systems.

    I deleted "library.cfg" under

    "C:\Users\User\AppData\Roaming\Ableton\Live 9.5\Preferences"

where "User" is of course your own windows user name.

also I deleted the Library Cache "files.db" under

    "C:\Users\User\AppData\Roaming\Ableton\Live 9.5\Database"

You have to newly assign your favorite places afterwards though. Also your customisations for category sorting are gone,

And you should of course make a backup before deleting,

    just for the case...

    Good luck

    (Edit)

One day later the same problem occurs again. I'm really angry at Ableton about a basic functionallity not working out like it should! For that price it is a big dissapointment.

After correspondance with Ableton it turned out that the "push2displayprocess.exe" uses indeed the graphics card for calculation. Since i have an i7 with integrated Intel HD graphics and an high performance Nvidia processor I'd to use the Nvidia preferences and add an entry for the pushdisplay.exe to use only the Nvidia graphic processor. The file can be found in the install directory of Live.

That did the trick for me and it works for 2 days now!

I hope for others it'll work out too..

Having the same issues as above, but on a Mac.

Push 2 arrived yesterday, hooked it up - everything was going great as I began to explore the unit. I returned a few hours later, fired up live and push 2 and the screen would not load. I got the Push 2 logo for a few seconds then just a blank screen!

Followed the Push 2 setup for mac, checked my sys info and ableton settings to make sure Push 2 was connected. All was correct there.

If I turned the push on and off a few times and re-started live a few times it would eventually come on. But this was only partially successful - I still had the following issues:

    • Mixer would not show levels on tracks playing
    • Simpler would not show wav sample just "Press 'Browse' to load a Sample" message
    • Display would not register session mode/tracks appearing on song
    • I was able to start/stop and modify effects, but that was the extent

One of the times I was in re-start mode, a firmware update came on the Push 2 screen. It says it updated but still no luck.

I even tried installing the latest beta (Live 9.6.1b2) but no luck.

About to submit a ticket to support. Really hope its an update issues and not a faulty unit...

    Hey All,

Thanks to ableton support, the solution was quite simple for me:

The problem was that it's set up twice in Live's preferences under Link/MIDI -> Control Surface. Please remove the lower entry and keep only the other one. To refresh, you can also deselect all of them and just re-select one entry.

I should mention I'm on a mac. No idea how I got two push 2's to show in my midi, I read it was possibly from unplugging and plugging push back in while live was still open - either way, it solved the issue for me - hope it can for some of you as well.

    Cheers -

Ran into the same issue on my Windows machine with my push 2. (worked fine on my mac)

Ableton 9.6 also crashed as soon as I turned the push 2 on, only the 9.7 beta worked but then the simpler display and mixer display didn't work.

Tried every solution listed here and online and none of them worked.

Only thing that worked was a fresh install.

    Installed:

    1) Chrome

    2) Audio Drivers

    3) Ableton Live

    4) Graphics drivers

Everything worked perfectly. 9.6 didn't crash like before and simpler/mixers worked as expected. I still have my old install that doesn't work so once I will try and remove everything from that install to see which one fixes push on my old install.

Hey guys,,,Just got my Push 2 tonight and this same issue happened ...its really odd to me to see all of these different suggestions, it seems there would be a sure fire fix by now....here is what fixed mine...After going through the list of suggestions on the link provided by the ableton staff I got to this one....

Under certain circumstances, the Push 2 Display driver cannot be installed automatically by Live. In this case, it is still possible to do that manually. To do so, run the installer by double clicking the              "Push2-display-driver-installer .exe" from the Ableton Live Program Folder, which is located under:

C:\ProgramData\Ableton\Live 9 Suite\Redist..........now after trying this to no avail I re-ran it as Admin so be sure to right click and run as admin...then the computer prompted me to restart and viola behold the waveform
