Newbie: How do I record multiple tracks of an external soft-synth (Massive)

Hello,

I've got the latest Ableton Live Suite (8) and NI Massive.

Not sure if I'm doing this right though...

I've been going into 'Plug-In Devices' and dragging the Massive AU into a new track, which brings up the Massive UI. I want to add more tracks with different patches on the Massive...

Is it OK to just drag another AU into a new track? Is this the best way to do it?

Thanks,

Craig

    Hey Craig,

That's the best way to do it, you can freeze a track if your CPU gets maxed out if needed.

There was a great Ableton blog post about it a couple of days ago.

If you need your massive parts to play simultaneously, then you'll still have to duplicate lanes (and freeze if you run short on CPU), if, however, they need to alternate, than the link I gave you is the way to go.

Watch till the end, he explains how to do this specifically in massive somewhere in the middle of the video.
