Newbie here... My guitar signal is WAY to hot/clipping

Thanks for your time...

My M-audio interface is working, BUT my guitar audio is way to hot. I barely have my guitar knobs turned up, and the GAIN on my M-audio box is barely turned up, YET I can't strum my guitar without it clipping on Ableton.

Any thoughts?

you may have a button pressed on your m-audio interface that says insturment, which will detect signals all at the same level, and the gain will not have much of an effect. Also, if you are running through pedals, you will be adding a lot of voltage to your signal, so that could also be your problem. In addition, try to pull the mixer fader down or add a utility to your track.
