new computer, relocating packs, but packs say corrupt

Hello -

Just got a new computer and I am moving Live over. I copied the Ableton directories over -- packs and presets and such -- but the packs do not install on the new computer by going to File->Install Pack. They say they are corrupt. What have I missed? I searched the forums but the responses there are mostly about relocating locally (i.e. right-click on a pack in the browser). I feel there's some other reference or file that needs to go over other than the packs themselves. I.e. when you download one, you get the .alp file, but these say they have no extension and the icon is different, so they must be not the kind you install. I may not be expressing myself well... Thanks.

    Hi there,

If you removed packs over from your previous installation, this would mean they have been installed already. Installed packs can not / don't need to, be installed again, all you would need to do is:

    - move them to a location of choice on your hard drive

    - point Live to this folder via Live's preferences -> Library -> Installation folder for packs.

    Hope this helps,

I don't know and can't find any advice anywhere. I am having to download all my packs again, deeply tedious.
