My warp markers seem "stuck" to the waveform in clip view....why?

This is my first big noob issue...I've read the section on warping and quantization in the manual, and have watched multiple videos on warping long clips.

Whenever I try to drag a warp marker, it seems to behave differently from what I'm seeing in the videos.  Instead of just being able to drag the warp marker independently (like I can with the loop brace or the start marker still), the audio waveform drags along with it.  I realize I can hold shift and drag the waveform into place underneath the warp marker's position, but has anyone else had this problem?  What's the fix?

The whole warping option is meant to drag the surrounding waveform along. Move warp markers bij double clicking it. It wil change colour. Then you can move it, and stretch audio parts.
