if i start Live without my USB Midi Keyboard attached, Live won't recognise if I subsequently attach it.For live to see it I have to stop and re-start the program- any other way of doing it please ?

Hi, are you using PC or Mac?

This is a common problem for PC users, with no known workaround that I am aware of, other than restarting the software.

For Mac it should be automatically recognised, though sometimes disconnecting and reconnecting will do the trick. If still no joy, Mac OS has the AMS app (under Applications > Utilities > Audio Midi Setup) which you can use to manually rescan for connected devices.

On Windows, Live will not recognize MIDI controllers attached after the program starts.

You may be able to get around this using a 3rd-party MIDI translation tool such as Bome's or MIDI-OX, which might be able to be restarted on its own without stopping Live, but I've never tried this myself.

This appears to be fixed in Live 9.  I have restarted A Keystation Pro88 and also hot-plugged in a Rig Kontrol 3 while Live 9 was running and had it pick up the USB devices.

would there be a way to allow a "rescan for devices" within live for PC to avoid having to shutdown and restart Live?

As tested with a QuNeo on Windows 7.

Another option could be turn off and turn on your keyboard. Sometimes it works just by shutting off and on Live.

    Cheers!
