Multiple MIDI Tracks to Single Virtual Instrument

Ok, I may be daft but I haven't been able to figure out how to do this.  I want to have a single Virtual Instrument fed by multiple MIDI tracks.  Example: Drum Virtual Instrument, I want 1 MIDI track for Kick, 1 Track for Snare, 1 for Hihat, etc without needing to have multiple instances of the Instrument.  In other DAW's I simply do this by creating multiple MIDI tracks and setting their output to the VI however I can't seem to do this in Ableton.  Thanks in advance!

If the Virtual Instrument accepts input from multiple discrete midi channels (as with the Virus TI VST) then it should auto-populate Ableton's I/O drop down menus with the appropriate channels.

With an empty MIDI channel, choose the "Midi To" destination as the track containing your multi channel Virtual Instrument, then in the second dropdown menu below "Midi To" select the channel you wish to send the MIDI signal on.

If you do not see the I/O settings for each track, press the little I-O button on the right side of your screen under the scroll bar.
