Multiple midi devices - channel confusing

I have two midi devices:

- Novation > MkII : use it as a keybaord (channel 1)

- Keith McMillen > 12 step : use it as a trigger (to launch a scene for example) (channel 2)

Each is assigned to different channels (1 and 2).

For example, I want to play my first scene. This is the process I do :

- ctrl + m

- press a button on my footboard

- Live says me : it is assigned to '2/C3' (2: midi channel, C3: midi message).

My issue is, if I press the key C of 3rd octave (C3) on my keyboard , it will also launch the first scene.

Even if it is on a separate channel. I don't know how to solve it.

Does Ableton confuse midi channel ?

For information, I'm on Windows 8 + Live 9.

Thanks for you help.

Best regards,

If you want your keyboard to NOT control automation then deselect it from the REMOTE option in MIDI Prefs for the keyboard and for your foot controller have it so that IS a Remote device.

For the moment, my only solution is to transpose my pedal board.

Then I can send for example C6 (6th octave) message instead of C3 (3rd octave) as my keyboard. I'm lucky, because I use a small one (2 octaves only).
