macbook pro configuration

Buying a new machine. What should I have installed on it as far as programs? and any set up must do's?

    One of the nice things about Macbook Pro's is that they're pretty much good to go out of the box for something like Ableton Live.

    I'd say the only programs you need to have installed are the ones that come with it, Live, and then any program you want for your specific needs. 

    I like to keep my installation as minimal as possible so that nothing gets in the way of my music.

    Might be a good idea to put a faster harddisk in it (7200 rpm)
