Live 9 hangs when I save, and sometimes when I open a new project

I mean like, I have a project that is 8 audio tracks that was previously saved and it's been spinning beach ball for like 8 minutes. This happens all the time, and seemingly randomly. I never had issues like this with Live 8. I have a top of the line 17" macbook pro from 2011, I feel like it shouldn't be this slow? Is this a known problem or is something wrong with my computer?

Certainly not a normal issue. Ask Ableton support for assistance.

Having the same issue. Wrote ableton support, hoping to get some resolution. Strange thing is, it only happens when I try to load certain (most) project files. I haven't been able to find anything unique about those that cause the freeze though. Please update if you figure out a solution.

I'm having the same issue. I'm guessing, but not sure it's actually a plug-in problem, possibly poorly coded plugin-ins with memory leaks that cause issues when loading up a file that uses those plugins. To test this theory, I'm going to try uninstalling a few plugins I added recently and add them back one by one..

This may be a really dumb suggestion, but do you have your audio interface hardware plugged in? I experienced similar problems w Live 9 Lite (Win 7) where Ableton took 2 minutes or more to start up and about the same amount of time to close down. Once it fired up, it would occasionally freeze. After trying a lot of things (removing plugins, reducing amount of media listed in "Places", re-installing) I found that you had to have the hardware plugged in or you have to specify no external device in preferences. Once I did this, start up and shutdown were speedy and there were no hangups. You probably already knew this - in which case sorry to waste your bandwidth. Hope it works out!
