Link a sample folder on two differently named hard drives?

I work often on my laptop and then at a studio I share with a few people.

I have a folder that contains all of my drum machines, impulses, misc samples that is an exact copy both on my laptop hard drive and the studio hard drive.

Because the sample folder is in different places on each computer I can't open a project on my laptop or at the studio without having to relink the samples.

I don't want to do a collect all and save.

I tried making an alias folder to point to the samples folder on the desktop of both machines but that was unsuccessful.

Does anyone know a way to have an ableton project find the correct folder on both machines?
