Large CPU load when not playing and Latency Issues.

Hi guys, I've been using Live 9 for around a year now. Im running a MacbookPro on Mountain Lion, it has 8gb of RAM and a 2.9ghz dual core processor. Its worked great up till now, CPU usage can get quite high at times on projects with a lot going on but I always knock it down by freezing tracks, resampling etc, all the usual methods.

I've never had a problem recording audio before but lately I've encountered some issues. All of a sudden my % bar of the audio engine is permanently on 30%, even when live is not during playback. This rises or falls as I change the buffer size, its around 30% on 128 (the minimum I can record on this machine with no latency), and at 32 its around 55%. Since this has started, I also get latency on even 32 buffer size to the point where recording is impossible. Obviously when this started I made sure no other programs were open on the mac that could chew up CPU etc and I'm at a bit of a loss as to what the problem is. No other program on my mac seems to be running slower and the mac seems to be as fast as usual and running completely normally (apart from live).

Any help would be much appreciated!
