Is there a way to lock the time position of a sample when I move it between tracks in the arrange window?

So, I want to move a sample from one track to another, but keep it in exactly the same time position. In other programs there is usually a key to press while drag-dropping with the mouse to ensure that the sample only moves up/down between tracks and not left-right in time. I can't find anything similar in Live - am I missing something or is there a different procedure in Live?

there's small green arrow on the left edge of the clip at the top of the screen (on the thick dark line below the scrub area).

if you have 'snap to grid' on, but the clip start is off-grid, just drag til that green arrow goes off. now your clip is lined up.

if your grid is off, line up the clip near to the green arrow by eye , then tap 'cmd' key (mac) to snap to position. the green arrow will go off.

Hey so I have the exact same question as timward's, if I understand it correctly, and one answer is: Apple Key + 4 (to switch on "snap to") then drag and drop clips into next track with mouse, they will stay in the exact same position.

But there must be a keyboard shortcut to do that drag-and-drop step, right?
