Is there a tutorial for complete beginners?

My son got a Casio CTK-5000, an SE Electonics SEX1 condenser microphone, a Focusrite Saffire 6 USB audio interface which was bundled with an Ableton Live Lite 8 license.

For a father, being a complete music software novice, the Ableton Live interface was a bit overwhelming and daunting, but I managed to install the ASIO driver on my PC and have followed the instructions in the “Getting Started” movies, but I cannot manage to get any sound from the microphone NOR any sound from the Casio keyboard, although I can see that Ableton is getting some kind of data because it is indicating in the upper right corner that Ableton Live is receiving MIDI data.

But now I am completely stuck! So now I wonder if there is some kind of tutorial for complete beginners?

    Hi there,

We recommend the Learn Live page to get to grips with the basics:

However if you are stuck on a technical issue, contact our support directly instead and we can help you through it:

Search for Ableton Tutorials on YouTube. The DubSpot and Berklee College tutorials are easy to understand, well presented, and quite informative.

Live's inbuilt Help system starts out with informing about how to setup audio and MIDI hardware (at least in my setup), and deals with just about everything you need to know.

You can enable the Help view in the Help dropdown menu (it's the top button), or by dragging from the far right of Live.
