Is there a reason to use the Push serial number if you own Live?

I already own Live 9 Suite.  Is there any reason to use the Push serial number that comes on the manual?

For registration? Or maybe for registration for firmware update info.

As all products activated on ableton is listed up in "your account" section.

An official explanation would be nice though...

Nope. I bought one from Guitar Center and attempted to register it, first thing.  The Ableton web told me there was a problem with the SN.  I Emailed support and they had me take pictures of the "Faulty" SN, Box bar code and receipt to get a new one.  However, when I plugged it in and started Live, the unit automatically updated the F/W.. without being registered.  Now, my Live IS registered, of course.

I think it may also stop thieves from being able to use the device on any computer with ableton.
