Is it possible to set audio and/or MIDI track defaults

I would like to set default parameters for new tracks, especially audio tracks. When I add a new track the input defaults to my external input channel(s), which in my case is my mic; the manual points this out as being the default behavior, but I can not seem to change it. Most of the time I need to change the input to "No Input", primarily because my mic is usually hot, and I get audio on the track where I don't want it. This is also a problem (and huge pain) when loading sets from other people, although I would think that the I/O settings are part of the set, which makes sense.

How do you manage this behavior? Disable inputs in live? Mute the mic?

I'm open to suggestion!

right click on the top of the track and  choose 'Save as Default MIDI / Audio track' right at the bottom

maybe this is not your desired answer, but here is a nice tip:

i arrange my tracks and basic setup in a default template. simply add as many tracks as you use on average. adjust in/ out settings, routing, basic plugins etc. as you would have in a standard recording situation. then go to settings and save it as default template (first option in file/folder). everytime you open live it will show it up. if you duplicate an existing track the new one will have the same parameters and setup. for me it saved much time. :)

i hope this helped you ;)
