I entered "applications" as the custom plugins folder, and now Live crashes whenever I launch it, during the initial scan.

I can't go to the preferences menu to change that, it crashes before I can access it. I'm stuck with it. Any suggestions? I'm using Live MPC.

Live doesn't need to be re-installed. Please see the following article to find a solution:

In the future, please do not select very big top-level folders as the custom VST folder, as this might result in ultra-long scanning processes and possible crashes.

    Have you tried reinstalling Live?
After that, select a dedicated plugin folder on your harddisk.
In Windows there's usually a Steinberg or VST folder. If not, create one yourself.
On Mac there are already folders for vst, au, etc. It works fine when you use the available folders.

    Good luck!
