How to record external input without recording second track in ableton at the same time.

I'm trying to record my scratching in serato into a channel in Ableton.

I have channel 1 set up to record (input ext) and channel 2 has a pre-existing loop on it (set to no input). Both outputs are set to master.

My problem is that when I start recording, channel 1 records not only my scratching, but the audio from channel 2.

How can I stop it recording what is on channel 2?

Many thanks,

If you select a specific input (in this case ext in) you should not be recording anything else. Make sure the input is set to the correct channels (external 1/2, as an example).

Then make sure there's no input on the channel playing the loop. (think you did that already)

Now, to record only the scratching, arm the track that gets the serato input (or use clip recording). Check monitor input settings. After that, you can record only that input.
