How to punch in record in session view?

I just recorded an audio clip of vocals into a Session view clip. I messed up the last two words and jus want to punch in right there, but I can't figure out how to do it. I'm playing with the punch in buttons, the loop brace selected, record armed, everything I can think of, but nothing records. The same thing happened to me the other day with a MIDI clip in session view. Is there no way to punch in record in Session view? And if there isn't, why are the punch in/out buttons visible on the bar at the top in session view.

I'm new to Ableton but I finished watching the 7 hour ableton essentials on Lynda and have been playing around with the program for a few days.

Thank you.

Read some more about the clip recording button (at the top) and about the OVR (overdub) function. That should fix your problem.
