How to get track level to properly adjust using MIDI Mapping

A question I hope someone can help with:

I'm mapping track fader to a slider on my Eigenharp.  The slider sends CC7.

The mapping works, but Live always drops the fader to its lowest setting when I release the slider.  I can control the fader's volume up and down the range I desire, but when I release the slider Live drops the volume to whatever the lowest vale in the MIDI Mappings panel for that control.

What I would rather happen is that Live keeps the level at the point where I release the slider.  Say, I increase the fader volume, I'd like it to remain at the increased level.

Any ideas how I could make this work?

Have you tried changing the midi control settings? In the preferences, there's a little setting called 'takeover settings' that might do the trick.
    Check this tutorial for starters.

Hope that will work for you.
