How do you solo a track with a sidechained Gate?

Will this site actually keep the question body this time?

After posting the question, I went to create a simple example project and discovered what the actual problem is. If I have a "Track A" that is a group of tracks, and "Track B" that has a gate with a sidechain that targets Track A, then I cannot solo Track B. This is demonstrated in this contrived example --- http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1038672/examples/Gate%20sidechain/Gate%20Sidechain%20Problem%20Project.zip (yes, it sounds awful. But it shows the problem).

So, is there an easy way to do this without having to duplicate the whole group? Doing so will eat up a lot of CPU time.

One way would be to use a ghost track.
The gate is triggered by a certain channel/sound. Copy this track and set the output to "send only". Now set the Gate so that is uses this ghost track as an input.

You can solo the gated channel and hear the effect, as long as the triggering track is still playing. You won't hear the trigger, because it is set to send only, but you will hear the effect on the gated track.
Hope this is what you need?
