How can I replace missing media that is looking for wav files when I only have aif files

I'm trying to load a bunch of old songs that I made with Ableton Live 7 before I knew about "Collect and Save". They have a bunch of missing files, mostly Impulse samples, but luckily I was able to find the Live 7 Legacy pack that has all the samples I need.

Unfortunately, all my projects are looking for *.wav files, but all the samples in the pack are aif files. The names are the exact same aside from the extension, but live refuses to match them up, so I have to do it manually. This is a huge pain because I've got dozens of old songs to go through, each with dozens of samples. I tried renaming all the files to wav but that didn't work because Ableton saw them as unplayable wav files.

Is there some other approach I can take or a way to force Ableton to ignore file extensions when searching for missing files? Thanks!

I too have this question. I converted all my samples to AIFF to take advantage of the fact that you can embed metadata in AIFFs but not in WAVs. Now I have all the old projects that reference the old WAV files I used initially.

Would love the ability to search and replace all while ignoring file extension. Kontakt can do this...why can't Ableton?
