How can I produce a sound for a note while also controlling the cycles per second?

I'm trying to produce a range of sounds while also controlling the cycles(oscillations) per second.

ie I'd like to produce a synthesised E at 600 cycles per second... or at 400 cycles a second.

How would you go about doing this?

I have Live 8 with all the instruments and max for live also. Any pointers would be really great!

This is purely just experimental and I'm trying to get a better understanding of sound formation.

Cheers!

    Hi,

You might find this table useful : http://www.phy.mtu.edu/~suits/notefreqs.html

It shows all of the notes and the cycles per second (hz) of each. For example the cycles for E are 660, if you change this to 600 it won't be a perfectly tunes E any more.

If you use Operator you can play notes and then use the fine control to move them so that they are not perfectly tuned.

I hope I understood the questions correctly :-)
