Disabling the piano key sounds when using MIDI controller (Launchpad)?

I have a Launchpad, and whenever I map the on/off of an audio device to an open/unused button, I hear the piano key that corresponds to that place on the controller. Is there any way to disable this so I don't hear piano keys every time I activate my devices?

Try to deselect the “Microsoft GS Wavetable Synth” in the control surface section or the MIDI ports list.

    1. look in the channel and make sure that what ever channel the piano is playing from that it "MIDI from" "All Ins" is not selected...now this channel will only play from whichever midi controller is selected.

    hope this solves it

I don't know the launch pad. For me it sounds as if superimposed midi mappings are existing. Check the mappings while in midi map mode (CMD+M on a mac).
