Convert Image to Midi notes

Hi all,

I'm a recent arrival to Ableton. Is there a way to covert an image file to create the positioning of the midi notes rather than inputting each one individually? I'm thinking importing a low resolution black and white image to do this or even vector lines drawn elsewhere and imported. I was keen to experiment creating sounds from a visual starting point and it would be great to be able to test things out more quickly and intuitively. If it's not possible directly within Ableton does anyone know of any workflows using third-party plugins etc that would enable this?

Software like photosounder can convert images to sound. But there are a lot more options. Image2sound is another one.
But i think those plugins can only convert an image to audio. So to get midi, you will have to use Live 9's audio to midi function.
