    MIDI mapping (the MIDI button in the upper-right) can be used to assign MIDI notes to clips, so you can trigger all of your music from there, and it'll play as far through as you want. If you want tracks unwarped, just turn off the "warp" button in clip view. You can even turn off universal quantization using the chooser at the top of the window if you want them to trigger the instant you hit a button instead of waiting for the next measure or beat.

    So the setup is different, but the result is I think what you're looking for: press a button on a MIDI controller, and the indicated track or sample plays immediately.

    This is more like how Live is "meant" to be used although if you prefer to do it one way or another, in the end it's whatever you want :)
