    re the potential problem of forgetting to turn the track off, if you add a breakpoint at the off position to the 'speaker on' envelope at the very beginning of a clip, your your sound will always be off when the clip gets fired, and then you can override that whenever you want and then continue to toggle the speaker on/off with the mapped key. this works fine when you want to activate within a clip/loop that's playing already; and once its looping the speaker will stay on. but it can be tricky to simultaneously start+activate now since every time you initiate play the clip it turns itself off. so you have to hit play just before activate which isn't ideal and may not always work depending on quantization settings and material. but its an option.
