    Clever solution. It looks a bit weird in Push using this method since the drum rack is empty and thus nothing lights up, but it's definitely better than using note view.

    One variant is that instead of creating a separate track, you can right-click on the track that contains your empty drum rack (from #2) and click Show Chains, and then put your other instrument there. Then in the I/O section by default it's set to only listen to C3, but under "Recv./Pl." you can change it to "All". That way you don't need two tracks.

    If you want the pads to light up like a normal drum rack, you can add External Instrument (or some other instrument that doesn't make any sound by default) to each pad and then rename it so it gets that name in Push and the piano roll.
