    Look into your device list within your control panel. Take note of your USB devices listed. Off-hand I do not recall what you would need to do to verify that it is properly reading any device but you can at least double check to see if there are errors.

    Look into Windows forums about USB device issues. It may be a matter of your system not recognizing the device.

    Also, try plugging the device into different USB ports. Ports in the front and back. Some USB ports are of an earlier version than others and it will make a difference which you use for your device.

    It's possible you could arrive at the dreaded conclusion: re-installing your OS.
