Can I set up a cue mix / crossfade?

I'm getting to grips with to Ableton for DJing having moved over from Virtual DJ.

I'm fairly happy with my setup but have one issue with cuing in headphones which isn't quite as I'd like.

I've got a basic 4 channel audio controller (Hercules Console RMX).

Cueing each track individually or both together is working fine but I'd like to be able to control the volume of the track I'm cuing over the one that's already playing but through the headphones. Effectively crossfading between the two tracks but in headphones. Currently I can listen to both together but only at same volume. This is okay sometimes but often a track you're mixing in starts with a low volume part that's hard to hear over the already playing track.

To put it another way, I'd like to be able to cue a track in the headphones and mix in (also in headphones) the other track that's already playing (or the master out which would be the same thing). This is how my RMX controller works with Virtual DJ.

I've achieved something close by creating a return and sending track 1 and 2 to this using the sends, and then cueing on the return. I can then control the mix by adjusting the sends on each track. Only issue with this is that you need to use two knobs to control the mix (one for each track's send) and my controller only has 1 spare knob available for this as all the others are already assigned to other things.

I would have thought this would be quite a common question but I can't find an answer anywhere.

Any suggestions much appreciated.

Set Live to "cue". Next to the master channel in Live you can then pre-listen (cue) to any track and send the cue signal to a different output as well.
