Can I do "other DAW-style" beat mapping?

I understand how to set warp markers. I have read various posts online about beat-mapping in Live. In all of these posts, the method is to warp the audio to match the metronome beat. So the project tempo is constant and the live audio is "corrected" to match it.

What I'm after is not that at all. Another way to beat map, and the method commonly used by "typical" DAWs, is to vary the tempo setting instead of warping the audio. A beat mapping in, for example, Logic, involves many slight changes to the project tempo. In that way, you preserve the way a performance breathes, but you can add MIDI tracks because the variations in the project tempo track the variations in the tempo of the performance.

Can this be done in Live?

This can be done in Arrangement view, by using a clip's Tempo Master/Slave switch. See section 9.2.1 of the Live manual for more info.
