Best way to manipulate tempos for beatboxing?

I am trying to use Live 9 as a tool for live performance with beatboxing and looping mouth noises on the fly, and am wondering what the best way to overcome the Master Sequencer's tempo would be. I need to slave the sequencer to MY tempo, not the other way around, because my time signatures are odd and constantly changing (I do a sort of glitchy beatboxing that doesnt always have a constant beat). A friend has suggested getting a hardware looper such as an Electro Harmonix 2880, but I am looking for a cheaper and smaller option.

Is it possible to overcome my tempo and speed problems without external help, or am I just going to need to force my music to follow the master sequencer??
